Children throw several mealtime tantrums in every household. Because their child does not eat a wide variety of foods and prefers to eat outside of the house, parents are always concerned about what to feed him and what he will like.

How to give him nutritious home-cooked meals in such a scenario is crucial; in fact, you should try this dish once; all the kids will love it.

It isn’t spicy, and I haven’t added any spices to it, so it will be the perfect kid-friendly breakfast. You may also prepare it and pack it in a child’s lunchbox.

My kid refuses to eat anything in our home as well, so I constantly prepare new meals for her to try. She liked the rice meal I prepared for her one day.

Ever since, she has said, “Mama, make this rice; I like it.” every day. So let’s get creating.

Ingredients

  • Rice – 1 cup

  • Ghee – 2 spoons

  • Onion – 1 finely chopped

  • Tomato – 1

  • Salt – ¼ as per taste

Directions

  • First, take a pan, add ghee to it, and heat it. Once the ghee is heated, add the cumin seeds and give them a little snap. We will add the onion after the cumin seeds begin to crackle.
  • The onion will be fried until it becomes golden, but not too golden; just until it begins to look golden, and then we will add the tomatoes. We’re going to add salt to it in addition to tomatoes.
  • Don’t cook too much; just fry for one minute.
  • The rice will then be added after being washed two or three times with water.
  • Since this is Basmati rice, I have added water correspondingly. I have taken one cup of rice, so I will use a lot of water.
  • I’m cooking it right now. Add two cups of water to a pot if you are preparing dry rice.
  • We’ll let the pressure cooker cool down and switch off the gas after two whistle blasts. We’ll take it out onto a platter as soon as it cools.
  • Kids can now start eating our heated plain rice.

Notes

  • Green veggies can also be added to this rice. Green veggies may be added if your kids don’t enjoy them raw. Just cut them up fine.
